No jeans, cut-offs, or street shoes are to be worn during class. Please have hair pulled back for all classes. During winter months, please wear appropriate layers to protect cold muscles. Make sure any additional layers worn during the cold months are non-restrictive and form fitting. Students should come to class prepared and ready to dance.
Appropriate dance shoes must be worn for each class. For our dancer's safety, we ask that no dancers are dancing barefoot or in socks. Dancer's may have bare feet in tumbling classes. Please see the list below for appropriate shoes by style.
Required attire for individual classes:
Ballet- Leotard and tights. Tutus, ballet skirts, or athletic shorts may be worn over tights and leotard. Leg warmers are recommended over tights during the winter months to keep muscles warm. Ballet shoes are required for all ballet classes.
Pre-pointe – Black leotard and pink tights. A black ballet skirt or black shorts may be worn over tights and leotard. Dancers out of dress code for pre-pointe will be asked to observe.
Jazz- Yoga style or jazz pants and form fitting top. Jazz shoes are required for jazz classes.
Tap- Yoga style or jazz pants and form fitting top. Tap shoes are required for all tap classes.
Hip hop- Dress to move no jeans. Tennis/athletic shoes are recommended, no street shoes. Tennis shoes used for hip hop may not be worn outside.
Poms- Form fitting attire. Jazz shoes are required for turning purposes.
Lyrical- Yoga style or jazz pants with leotard or form fitting top. Lyrical sandals or footies are required.
Tumbling- Yoga style or jazz pants and form fitting top. No loose-fitting clothes will be allowed. Dancers will tumble barefoot.
Tuition is due by the 10th of each month. A $20.00 late fee will be added to any tuition not paid by the 10th of the month. There is a $35 fee for all returned checks. We do not pro-rate tuition nor can we accept partial payments If tuition is not paid in full, including the late fee, by the 20th your dancer will not be allowed to attend class until your balance is brought to $0. For recital months, your tuition must be paid in full by the 10th in order for your child to participate in recital. No pro-rated tuition or partial payments will be accepted. Please note we cannot accept late payments for recital or costume fees.
Classes may be observed from the designated waiting area. If you notice your child is not participating or is losing focus, please keep your observation time short. If you feel that your child is acting out in class, please do not worry! Let our teachers handle the situation, we don’t mind. We can always discuss situations after class.
The studio will also be closed on the following holidays and breaks:
Halloween (unless the holiday falls on a Saturday)
Thanksgiving Day - following Saturday
Winter break (In accordance with Jefferson County school district
Spring break (In accordance with Jefferson County school district
4th of July week

Please notify an instructor if your child will be absent whenever possible. No refunds will be given for classes missed by student; however, they can attend another class in the same calendar month as the absence to ‘make-up’ for the missed class. Any classes missed by an instructor, if no sub is available, will have a make-up class scheduled.
Food & Drinks
There will be no food, soda, or gum allowed on the dance floor at anytime.
Water bottles are allowed in the studio during class.
Arrival & Dismissal
Please pick up your students promptly. PAOD is not responsible for students before, after or in between their class. Children will be unsupervised once their class has ended. Dancers not picked up 15 minutes after their class time has ended will have a $20 late pick up fee added to their account. Classes will start promptly at the scheduled class time. If you arrive early, please be courteous to classes still in session.
PAOD will not allow students to behave inappropriately during class. We expect all students and parents to be kind and supportive to other dancers as we want everyone to have a great dance experience. Students and parents should refrain from using bad language, bullying others, using inappropriate physical contact, or criticizing other dancers. Please no stealing, no fighting, and no bad attitudes. If students or parents are unable to conduct themselves according to these rules, they will be dismissed from the studio with no refunds given.
Cell phones and smart watches are a big distraction in the studio. We understand the need for our students to carry technology as a way to contact their parents before and after class. However, PAOD asks that cell phones and watches be placed on silent and put away during their class time.
PAOD does not issue refunds on studio merchandise purchased in studio or individually ordered nor do we refund tuition for missed classes. or pre-paid tuition. Please refer to the section on make-up classes if your child is absent from their regular weekly class.
We have 2 sessions a year: Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. Please note that your dancer's enrollment in a class is only for that session. They are not guaranteed a spot in the next session. If you wish for your dancer to continue with that class for the next session you must re-enroll them. Please be aware of start and end dates of each session. Also keep an eye out for when new enrollment opens (typically in June for Fall/Winter and October for Spring/Summer). A $30 holding fee is charged to hold your dancers spot for the future session.
Premier Academy of Dance offers auto-pay to make your monthly tuition payments easier. By enrolling in auto-pay you are agreeing to allow Premier Academy of Dance to change your card on the 1st of each month. It is your responsibility to keep your card information updated. If you would like to cancel auto-pay, we ask for a 2 week notice in writing.
We assume all dancers will be participating in recital unless we hear otherwise from a parent or guardian by the recital cut-off date. There is a $30 recital fee in addition to the costume fee which is assessed by class. If dancer are participating in recital they will be required to attend the mandatory dress rehearsal in addition to the show. All dancers will be required to stay backstage for the duration of the dress rehearsal and show. Our behavior policies are in effect during recital weekend. Any misconduct may result in dismissal from the studio. Please look for the recital packet for more information.
